BAU: The people of Krokong, Tringgus and Gumbang in Bau District have made an important step to have their land issued with titles under Section 18 of Sarawak Land Code.

A land perimeter survey taskforce has been set up, and has had several meetings and discussions prior to the launching ceremony held at Kpg Pedaun Bawah community hall on Tuesday officiated at by Serumbu assemblyman Miro Simuh.

Miro advised the people in the three areas to work together to ensure that the land perimeter survey is carried out smoothly.

“This (land perimeter survey) is a starting point for us to get our land recognised under Section 18 of Sarawak Land Code. It is important that we work together to ensure that the work is not interrupted, and is completed on time,” he said.

The work, he added, would be completed in July before submission to the Land and Survey Department for documentation purposes.

He said the perimeter survey work in certain areas in Sarawak was delayed due to the people not workingtogether. He hoped that such situation would not happen in his constituency.

He also said that staff from Land and Survey Department would be invited to the villages once the land perimeter survey has been completed, to explain to the people on the issuance of individual land titles.
