KUALA LUMPUR: Tabung Haji (TH) Hibah or dividend for 2018 will be announced in March, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof said yesterday.
“I was made to understand that it is TH practice that once the accounts were closed, the distribution of the dividend will be announced by end of February, early March or middle of March,” he told a press conference at Menara TH here.
Mujahid also announced that the government had agreed to retain the subsidy for Muassasah haj pilgrims performing the pilgrimage for the first time this year despite facing financial challenges.
As such, the price for performing haj for Malaysian pilgrims will remain at RM9,980 per person, he said.
“Despite facing various challenges, TH will strive to cover the total subsidy of over RM306 million this year after the cost for each pilgrim increased to RM22,900 from RM22,450 last year,” he added.
However, he said the decision to retain the subsidy would not affect the distribution of the TH Hibah. — Bernama
