Library to hold digital inclusivity workshop in Mulu

MIRI: Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri (Pustaka Miri) will hold a digital inclusivity workshop  at Mulu Community Hall near here on Feb 29 from 8am to 5pm.

A press release from the library yesterday said PANDei (People Accessible Network for Digital Empowerment and Inclusivity) workshop organised in collaboration with Sarawak government aims to equip everyone in Sarawak with digital literacy skills in preparation for the future besides educating and raising awareness on the importance of knowledge and information.

This Sarawak People’s Digital Inclusivity Programme with the theme ‘Digital Community Preservation’ will offer seven modules. Module 1 will be Identifying Information Needs, Module 2-Information Searching Methods, Module 3-Mobile Gadget Safety and Security Measures, Module 4-Cyber World, Module 5- Social Media, Module 6- Information Evaluation and Module 7 will be on Digital Residents’ Ethics.

“There will be sessions on recognising types of information resources and reliable resources as well as steps to download Sarawak Pay application.

“This workshop will expose participants to digital and media literacy programme at community level to provide online transaction skills for the people in Sarawak.

It added that through information literacy classes, participants will be able to recognise when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate and use the needed information effectively.

A total of 100 participants from the Berawan and Penan communities are expected to attend the event.
