SANDAKAN: Police detained a 49-year-old local man for attacking a butcher with a cleaver at the Karamunting pork market here yesterday morning.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohd Azhar Hanim said police immediately rushed to the scene upon receiving information on the incident from members of the public around 9.30am.
“Police arrested the suspect and seized the weapon used in the incident.
“The victim who sustained injuries on his head, hands and body has been taken to the hospital for treatment,” he said.
Mohd Azhar added that police were still investigating the motive of the incident under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
