Lambir schools want share of RM100 million allocation

MIRI: The people in Lambir are hoping that primary schools in the constituency would be repaired also, now that it has been announced that the repairs of 33  dilapidated schools in Sarawak would commence soon.

Its assemblyman Ripin Lamat said he was looking forward to the needy primary schools in his area to be included in the list of schools to use the RM100 million funding from the Ministry of Education.

He said this whem met at Darul Khairat Mosque in Kampung Bakam near here yesterday.

Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dato Sri Michael Manyin announced on Tuesday that the Ministry of Education had disbursed RM100 million for the repair of dilapidated schools in the state to the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR).

Ripin said there were a few primary schools in Lambir that were in dire need of repairs. They were SK Kampung Subak, SK Keluru Tengah, SK Peninjau, SK Ulu Satap and SK Tawakal Satap.

He said he was happy that effort had been made to improve the assets (buildings) at SK Kampung Beraya.

Earlier, Ripin, who is also an advisor to the Bakam Islamic Welfare Trust Board, presented donation to orphans from the village as well as a generator set for use by the village mosque. It will be use to conduct  funeral services in the evening.

A political secretary to chief minister Julani Mokhtar who is also chairman of Bakam Islamic Welfare Trust Board, another political secretary (to chief minister) Sarkawi Suhaili and treasurer of Bakam Islamic Welfare Trust Board Marini Juraibi were among those present.
