Heavy machinery seen at Sungai Pinang, Bau on Wednesday.

KUCHING: The Land and Survey Department has intervened in two attempts to transport rock materials without approval.

A media statement yesterday said the department seized heavy machinery during operations at Sungai Pinang, Bau on Wednesday and in the Batu Kawah area on Thursday.

The seized items, believed to be used for carrying out unapproved activities, will serve as evidence.

The activities, which were detected as a result of patrols, will be investigated under Section 32A of the Sarawak Land Code (Chapter 81).

The department called on those who wish to dredge or transport materials to visit the department’s nearest office for further advice to avoid flouting regulations.

Members of the public can provide information on similar illegal activities by calling the headquarters on 082-444111 or contacting the Talikhidmat service via www.talikhidmat.sarawak.gov.my or 555999.
