S’wak govt giving full cooperation to GIACC on declaration of assets

KUCHING: The Sarawak government is giving its full cooperation to the newly-established National Centre for Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption (GIACC) on declaration of assets.

Malaysia Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) Sarawak director Razim Mohd Noor said he is very happy to note that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has given a good response to the initiative.

“Good response by YAB CM to the initiative by GIACC on declaration of assets,” Razim told Borneo Post Online today.

GIACC is headed by Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed, who is former a MACC chief commissioner.

To recap, DAP’s Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham has declared the highest amount of assets, valued at RM75 million, followed by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad with declared assets valued at RM32 million while Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof’s declared assets were valued at RM23 million.

Dr Mahathir recently said that he would not keep the asset declaration reports given to him and would hand them over to agencies dealing with corruption.

Razim who paid courtesy call to earlier today at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, here also revealed that to date, Sarawak has 10 Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO) and 43 more are currently undergoing training.

“The first module of training for the officers was held from Feb 11 to 15, 2019, while the second module will be conducted this week,” he said.
