KUCHING: The Sarawak government is giving its fullest cooperation to the newly-established National Centre for Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption (GIACC) on declaration of assets.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sarawak director Razim Mohd Noor said he was very happy to note that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had given good response towards the exercise.

“Good response by YAB CM to exercise initiative by GIACC on declaration of assets,” Razim told The Borneo Post.

The GIACC is headed by Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed, who is former MACC chief commissioner.

Razim, who earlier paid a courtesy call on Abang Johari at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here, also revealed that to-date, Sarawak has 10 Certified Integrity Officers (CeIOs) with a further 43 currently undergoing training.

“The first module of training for the officers was held from Feb 11 to 15 this year, while the second module will be conducted this week,” he said.

On the probe into Assistant Minister of E-Commerce Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais for alleged abuse of power and corruption, Razim said the investigation is still ongoing.

“We are still gathering information. Cannot conclude (if allegation is true) yet,” he said.
