BINTULU: Testing for the proposed sequence change to the traffic lights at Medan Jaya and Taman Tinggi, along Jalan Tun Hussein Onn here, will be carried out from March 2 until April 1.

Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) deputy general manager Abdullah Mohd Sheriff said the test is aimed at resolving traffic congestion along Jalan Tun Hussein Onn, particularly at the two intersections.

“In order to convert to the new sequence, the junction will be shut down for about six hours to perform the associated works, starting 2pm on March 2. The new sequence will be activated after the works on the same day,” he told a press conference yesterday.

He reminded drivers to pay attention to the changes, among which is the deactivation of the U-turn and right-turn lights, as well as the temporary closure of the lane from Miri/Bintulu Airport to Taman Tinggi.

Abdullah added that road users are welcome to give feedback on the new sequence which will be used to formulate a better solution to improve the traffic congestion in the area, which was highlighted by Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
