Fire is seen engulfing the wooden house as firefighters arrive.
LIMBANG: A single-storey wooden house at Kampung Tedungan near here was destroyed by fire yesterday.
According to Limbang Fire and Rescue chief Tawang Lingem, the occupants – a family of four – were not at home during the time of the incident, which was around 3.30pm.
He said upon being notified by the public, the department despatched 11 firefighters, led by senior officer Zakaria Matnor, on board three fire engines to the scene, which is located about 45km away from the Fire and Rescue station here.
The firefighters also received assistance from members of the local voluntary firefighting unit.
Their quick action helped prevent the flames from spreading to other houses.
