KUCHING: The University of Reading Malaysia campus is offering the International Foundation Programme (IFP), which allows students to progress to their chosen degree at the United Kingdom campus or continue locally.

Located at Educity Iskandar, Johor, a dedicated education zone established by the Malaysian government, there are intakes for the IFP in April and September.

The programme is aimed largely towards students who have just completed their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia.

Programmes offered at both the United Kingdom and Malaysia campuses are identical in terms of curriculum, teaching materials, and academic quality standards.

Completing the IFP allows students to pursue a wide range of pathways such as accounting and finance, business, real estate, building and construction, psychology, pharmacy, and law (subject to provisional accreditation in Malaysia).

A key goal is to help students become independent learners capable of finding information, examining issues, and less dependent on being ‘spoon-fed’.

In addition to academic skills, the IFP also helps students develop soft skills such as problem-solving and working in teams, which are vital for their career development.

The small class sizes allow students to benefit from greater personal interaction with faculty and other students.

The University of Reading Malaysia campus enables students to have fun and enjoy their social life while still focusing on their studies.

The IFP was one of the first to be established in the United Kingdom in the 1980s.
