BINTULU: Community leaders must always be in touch with the district offices and relevant agencies in their respective areas, especially when it comes to issues and problems faced by them and their charges.

Minister of Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said this when officiating at the opening of a dialogue in a hotel here yesterday, which involved community leaders from Sebauh.

“It would be better for all issues and problems to be referred to the District Office (DO) to ensure that follow-ups could be done to resolve them,” he said.

Dr Rundi said it would not be appropriate for leaders to let issues go viral; instead, they should have matters be resolved amicably via proper channels.

He also assured the community leaders that problems highlighted to the relevant agencies would be addressed immediately.

Additionally, Dr Rundi also called upon the community leaders to strongly support Sarawak government’s ruling coalition, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“Strong support from the people in the state is very important because GPS is the only local-based political entity led by local leaders,” he added.

Present at the event were Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, Bintulu Resident Jack Aman Luat, as well as political secretaries to chief minister Jenny Bangga and Victor Temenggong Angang.
