Serian cops detain four men suspected of drug possession

KUCHING: Four men, including an Indonesian, are now under police detention to facilitate investigation under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession.

According to Serian police chief DSP Aswandy Anis, all four were arrested at three separate locations recently.

He said the first arrest was made at Tebedu Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS) at 9.45am last Friday.

“The first suspect is a 26-year-old Indonesian man. Police found crystal-like substance, believed to be methamphetamine, weighing 0.3g inside one of the pockets of his trousers,” said Aswandy.

Later around 1.15pm, Serian police arrested two local men at Kampung Saan in Tebedu, where the men-in-blue seized 10 packets of crystal-like substance weighing 8.5g from a car the two men were in.

“Both suspects, aged 25 and 29, are from Taman Pasir and Kampung Kemayau, respectively,” said Aswandy.

The fourth arrest was that of a 39-year-old man, who was apprehended at a house near Mile 5 Jalan Serian-Sri Aman around 7.30pm that same day.

“At the house, police found crystal-like substance, believed to be methamphetamine, weighing 3.3g inside a cigarette pack,” said Aswandy.

It is learnt that all four suspects tested positive for drugs.
