KUCHING: One of the three wanted suspects in connection to the Cambodian job scam has been arrested by the police at 10pm last night.

Sarawak Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) chief Supt Mustafa Kamal Gani Abdullah said the arrest was made in a public place at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, here.

“The suspect has been identified as 25 year old Chang Ying Siong who is wanted under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating,” said Mustafa today.

He also revealed that the police may apply for a remand order under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code at the Kuching Magistrate Court today.

Meanwhile, the police are also on the lookout for two other suspects namely: Mohd Ghafar Abd Jamal, 26 and Lai King Loong, 31.

Earlier this week, the police said they have reasons to believe that the three suspects were ‘local facilitators’ for the scam, which was an international operation since it involved foreign citizens.

Anyone who has information on the three suspects are advised to call the case investigating officer ASP Pricha Azin at 019-8897640.
