KABONG: City folk seeking a weekend getaway at the beach should consider visiting Tanjung Kembang here, where they can immerse themselves in the stunning view and natural beauty.
Stall operator Ahmad Chanda Ahmad, who hails from Miri, told Borneo Post Adventure Team (BAT) journalists that he would make it his daily routine to stroll along the sandy beach before opening for the day.
“Walking along the beach here helps me to relax as the beach is really clean and the breeze, comforting.
“I also love it that the environment here has almost zero pollution, in addition to the heartwarming hospitality of the local community,” he said.

Another stall operator, Rokayah Badri told BAT journalists that she hoped events such as the Kabong International Kite Festival can continue to be held annually to introduce the small town to foreign visitors.
“More activities should be held at Tanjung Kembang beach.
“The view is stunning and I’m sure it is something that visitors will appreciate.”
Rokayah’s view was echoed by local fruits seller Mohamad Rusdi, who operates along the beach.
He said having more events of a similar scale to the kite festival would definitely generate extra revenue for local folk, thus helping to improve their livelihood.
