MIRI: The National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) and People’s Volunteer Corps’ (Rela) ‘Ops Aduan (SHARP)’ on Wednesday saw eight individuals detained after they tested positive for drugs.

AADK Miri head Mazlan Jikran said the eight who had abused methamphetamine included two women. No drugs were seized during the operation from 8pm to 12.30am at Taman Tunku; Taman Ceria, Permyjaya; and Kampung Pujut Padang Kerbau.

“All detained will be investigated under Section 3 of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983,” Mazlan said in a press statement yesterday.

“If convicted they may be ordered by the court to undergo treatment and rehabilitation at a rehabilitation centre for two years or be put under a supervision order of more than three years.”

He added that those detained during the operation were aged between 18 and 43.
