KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu’s (PSB) acceptance of a Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) MP and former Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) leaders into PSB is considered an act of mockery and enmity against the GPS coalition, GPS Youth members opined.

GPS Youth exco member Miro Simuh said this in a joint statement by GPS Youth during a press conference held at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters at Jalan Bako here today.

He singled out two PSB assemblymen, namely Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh and Datuk Jerip Susil for holding portfolios in the cabinet of the GPS-led government while leading a non-GPS political party to recruit members from GPS component parties with the clear intent of disrupting GPS stability and solidarity.

“As a matter of discipline, we cannot condone the fact that there are non-GPS members in the cabinet enjoying all the privileges and resources in the GPS government (while pinching members from GPS component parties),” he said when representing PBB Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu.

As GPS is entrusted by the people of Sarawak to pursue the state rights and position in so far as Malaysian Agreement 1963 is concerned, Miro stressed that any divisive politicking to distract the coalition’s focus from putting Sarawak first “was not allowed”.

“GPS core principles are based on unity and cooperation within and between component parties,” he said, adding that the newly formed party does not adhere to the principles mentioned by GPS.

On another note, he said that GPS Youth believed in Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari’s wisdom to resolve this issue and that the youth wing would fully support Abang Johari’s views on the matter.

He stressed that Sarawak needed a strong and dedicated local-based political alliance to safeguard the state’s rights and interests and unite in its struggle to put Sarawak first.

“Therefore, GPS is the only local based political alliance that has the experience and strength to bring and lead Sarawak and her people towards a promising future and stronger era,” said Miro, who is also PBB Youth wing deputy chief.

Among those present was Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan, who is also PRS Youth chief.
