SMK Marudi records 92.37 pct pass rate

MARUDI: SMK Marudi recorded a 92.37 per cent pass rate for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2018.

The school’s 249 candidates also managed to improve the School Average Grade (GPS) to 5.47 compared to 5.58 in 2017.

SMK Marudi’s best students were Ivy Tie Mei Wen and Lim Chia Hui (9A’s, 1B+), as well as Calerina Langkat Johannes (7A’s, 1B+, 1B), and Chuong Wei Fen (7A’s,2Bs).

Principal Maria Jau said she was excited and proud of the students’ results.

“I am very happy with the improving marks in the SPM. In year 2017 with GPS 5.58 and in 2018 this improved to 5.47,” she said.

“This showed that there has been improvement and the GPS should be made better again.”

Meanwhile, at SMK Telang Usan the top scorers were Phua Hui Seng and Chong Eii Cheng (6A’s).

The school had 56 SPM candidates last year, who managed an overall pass rate of 94.64 per cent – a significant improvement from 76.14 per cent in 2017.

The school also managed a GPS of 5.16.
