MARUDI: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has reiterated that there was no place for traitors in the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition as the party needs to be united to stand up for Sarawak rights.

Abang Johari doubled down on his vow to rid GPS of what he termed as ‘termites’ – those who would destroy the party from within.

“We don’t want termites in GPS. If you have termites, the whole house will fall down. The moment the house falls, that means the end of us,” he warned.

Abang Johari said he would be giving his topmost priority to GPS because of the coalition’s commitment to ensuring a better future for Sarawak.

“You cannot say that I support Abang Jo, but at the same time you try to pit people against each other in GPS. We cannot tolerate that,” he said.

Abang Johari said GPS was built on a common principle to fight for the betterment of the people’s livelihood.

Speaking in a highly charged note, Abang Johari stressed that he was currently monitoring the situation and would take action against the perpetrators.

“In our party, we will have to look at the good and the bad, and I will take the time to evaluate everything. When the time comes, I will decide what we are going to do. We don’t want termites in GPS,” he lamented.

Abang Johari said if the group’s activities were left unchecked, it would bring down GPS as the group was allegedly carrying out activities detrimental to GPS unity.

Earlier in his speech, Abang Johari was very happy to note that Marudi town was no longer isolated with the completion of the Miri-Marudi road.

Abang Johari believed the proposed waterfront project would further beautify Marudi’s landscape, adding that the RM23 million project was proof of GPS’ commitment to the people.
