Tip-off sees man nabbed for drug possession, abuse

MIRI: A tip-off from the public led to police arresting a man at his house here yesterday for alleged drug possession and abuse.

District police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said the 27-year-old suspect was picked up in Vista Perdana and found to be in possession of 10 small packets of drugs.

“The drugs, believed to be methamphetamine, were found in a bedroom inside the house. The 10 small packets weighed about 8.85 grammes and believed to be worth about RM1,450,” he said in a statement.

The suspect, he added, also tested positive for methamphetamine in a test carried out by police.

Police are investigating the case under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession, and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for drug abuse.
