She revealed that as of March 12, the number of applications received in Kuching was 408, followed by Sibu (165), Sri Aman (125), Miri ( 123), Sarikei (40), Bintulu (34), Mukah (33), Limbang (30), Betong (29), Kapit (14) and Samarahan (8).

“The EFS is for newborn Sarawakian babies whose parents both have ‘K’ status in their MyKad or least one of them with that status,” she told reporters here yesterday.

The EFS was introduced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg when tabling the 2019 State Budget on Nov 5, taking effect on Jan 1 this year.

Under the EFS, every newborn Sarawakian baby will be given a one-off incentive of RM1,000, irrespective of ethnicity, religious belief and social status.

“The chief minister approved allocation of RM40 million for the EFS this year,” she added.

Meanwhile, Fatimah received courtesy calls at her office from Sarawak Orchid Society (Sororso) and Pink & Teal EmpowHer yesterday.

The Sororso delegation led by Tengku Auraroza Tengku Abraham briefed her on their activities, while she advised them to hold more awareness programmes especially to educate the younger generation on orchids.

Pink & Teal EmpowHer founder Dr Abigail Jerip briefed Fatimah on the upcoming launch of its Human Papiloma Virus (HPV) kit in the first week of next month at CityOne Megamall as well as the proposed Mini Women’s Marathon Run for Health and Run for Cancer.
