CID team arrests three robbery suspects at house in Jalan Foochow

KUCHING: Police here arrested three male suspects on Tuesday in connection with the robbery at a 24-hour convenience shop in Jalan Bayor Bukit, Tabuan Jaya in the wee hours on March 2 this year.

Kuching district acting police chief Supt Ismail Mahmud said the arrests were made around 3.30pm at a house in Jalan Foochow by a Criminal Investigations Department (CID) team.

“All three suspects are aged between 35 and 39 years old. The case will be investigated under Section 395 / 397 of the Penal Code which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 20 years, and shall also be liable to whipping,” said Ismail yesterday.

During the robbery on March 2, one of the suspects threatened the convenience shop workers while wielding a sharp weapon. The suspects later made off with RM290 in cash.

All three suspects with several past criminal records including for drug-related activities are currently under remand to facilitate investigation into their possible involvements in other robbery cases in Kuching.
