SIBU: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) Sarawak hopes to produce more young entrepreneurs in automotive and construction fields through its 2019 Mara AutoCon Entrepreneurship Programme in collaboration with PSU Management.

Its Sibu officer Mohd Razib Mohad Tahir said Mara has been organising the programme for the past 30 years, but this is the first time the focus is on automotive and construction fields.

“The annual programme targets those aged 40 and below,” he said at the closing dinner of the 2019 Mara AutoCon Entrepreneurship Programme at a hotel here on Tuesday night.

The 30 participants in the March 10-20 programme were from Sibu, Mukah, Kapit and Sarikei.

“We hope there will be more technical entrepreneurs in Sarawak, especially among the youths through this programme,” he said.

To participants who have already been involved in the industry, he said: “You should be proud of yourself once becoming an entrepreneur. You’re giving job opportunities to others.”

Also present were PSU Management’s senior consultant Harizan Ashaari, participants’ leader Awangku Hafizi Awang Azahari and his assistant Lilian Linus.
