Miri Photography Society to hold installation ceremony

MIRI: The Miri Photography Society (MPS) will hold an installation ceremony tomorrow (March 24) at 3pm for its new committee for the 2019-2020 term.

President Sylvester Wong said prior to the ceremony, a photography contest for members would be held at 1.30pm.

“Taking pictures is part of MPS’ purpose and to produce it in so many different ways at such a short time is a good challenge for MPS members. Thus, we strongly believe that such a contest, though on a smaller scale for our members, creates a different experience for them,” Wong said in a press release.

“Apart from winning prizes, we like to see it as an opportunity for our members to gather at one place and socialise and share their photography techniques.”

The ceremony will also see prizes presented to winners of the ‘Year of Boar Photography Contest’.

“We are seeing more participants, especially younger in age, with more enthusiasm in producing quality photos with amazing effects.

“More plans are in our calendar of events, to organise more contests, enabling members and non-members to sharpen their skills and become better,” Wong added.

Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin is scheduled to officiate at the event.
