KUCHING: Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) will continue with its Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) scheme in Sarawak.

SPNB Sarawak public relation officer Wan Habeed Alli said SPNB never stopped providing the RMR scheme and they still receive new applications.

He, however, called on applicants to be patient as SPNB was still in the process of upgrading their delivery service aside from working out a new mechanism and design to improve the scheme.

“Once the new mechanism has been decided, we will contact the applicants.

“To those who had obtained their supporting documents as required by us, they can contact SPNB anytime,” he said at the handing over of keys to two RMR owners in Kampung Seratau, 15th Mile, Kuching Serian Road here yesterday.

Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin handed over the keys to the home owners.

Habeeb said ever since SPNB started its operation in Sarawak in 2005, they had received 3,770 applications from the state.

Todate, SPNB Sarawak had managed to complete a total of 1,356 units of RMR houses.

He disclosed that under this scheme, the federal government was subsidising RM20,000 for each unit.

“For example, if the total cost of one unit is RM68,000, the house owner only has to pay RM48,000 at about RM290 per month for 25 years.

“All loan repayments in Sarawak are to be made through Sarawak Housing Development Corporation (HDC),” he said.
