Student killed, teacher escapes unhurt in accident

TAWAU: A Lahad Datu Vocation College student was killed after he lost control of the Honda City car he was driving at Mile 13, Apas Road on Sunday.

District police chief ACP Fadil Marsus said the 18-year-old

victim was on the way back to Lahad Datu with a 27-year-old female college teacher when he  lost control of the wheel and hit a road divider at 2.10pm. The car then went off the road.

The victim who was not using the safety-belt, was thrown out of the car and hit a pole before falling into a drain and died on the spot.

Fadil said the teacher who owns the car was not hurt in the accident as she put on the safety-belt.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
