LABUAN: Labuan-born corporate leader Rosli Awang Damit, who is actively involved in oil and gas-related field, is climbing the political ladder to battle in the Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) Labuan divisional election, today.

After having deep thoughts on the need for Labuan’s continuous development with less politicking on the island’s development plans, he declared to contest for the deputy divisional chief.

The 52-year-old oil and gas service provider, Rosli, is facing Labuan Warisan 14th general election candidate, Noor Halim Zaini in a two-corner fight.

He said he had nothing to gain in politics, considering his growing age and his business ventures, but he was more for the people who hungered for development.

“The people here had been fed with dreams by politicians, leaving them in an illusion and quandary over project developments planned all the while,” he said to reporters at a press conference here yesterday.

Rosli said he needed a platform to be able to realise the development plans for the island and for the people as a whole.

“Being an industry player on the island, we have the advantage of what should be done in Labuan for the people.

“We want to cut the politicking but rather maturity in politics and this is in line with Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) struggles.

“We don’t intent to have enemies in politics but rather a healthy contest among the local political leaders and the time has come for us to focus on Labuan’s needs,” he added.
