TAWAU: A string of home burglaries in Sin On area here has brought anxiety to the local community.

Sri Tanjong N57 Community Development Leader Koo Hung Eow said the affected houses were at Taman Sri Utama, Taman Da Hua 1, Taman Melur, Taman Da Hua 3 as well as the latest victim who lost RM54,000 cash and valuables after his house at Taman Green was burgled on April 4.

Koo was told by some of the victims that the burglars nowadays have become more professional and they will bring along iron rod, pryware and weapons while committing the offence, which had been captured on CCTV. They (the burglars) were shameless and even committed the crime during day time.

Most of the victims believe that the burglars are the same group of people but no suspects have been arrested so far.

The alarming burglary cases have caused panic attacks among the residents, who worry they will become the next victim.

The victims also urged the Tawau police to enhance patrolling at certain hotspots while investigating the reported burglary cases thoroughly.

It is important for Tawau police to streamline their SOP of investigation by going to the incident site immediately for evidence before proceeding with the report.

Koo and his team will pay a courtesy call to the district police top management next week in respect of the rampant burglary cases.

On Thursday, Kapitan Chung Siang Ying also visited the victim whose house in Taman Green was burgled by five thieves.
