KUCHING: Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) is organising a heart-to-heart session with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg in conjunction with the opening of its 17th annual general meeting on April 25.

Its president Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum said DCCI is inviting the Chief Minister to officiate the AGM which will be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

The session will be followed by a business dialogue with the theme ‘Maximising Dayak Business Community’s Participation In Sarawak Development’ with the three Deputy Chief Ministers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

According to Salang, this is an important event because it provides a golden opportunity for the Dayak business community to meet the top political leadership of the state government.

“The organising committee is working very hard to make every preparation to ensure that DCCI will convey the correct messages and the pleadings to the top leadership that the Dayak business community should not be left out of the mainstream of Sarawak development so that all the created wealth of the country can be equitably shared by and for the prosperity of all communities including the Dayaks.

“As DCCI president, it is my wish that all DCCI members will make every effort to attend the above functions. I wish also to welcome other Dayak entrepreneurs who are not yet members of DCCI to attend these functions,” he said.

He added that a big crowd especially from the 800-plus members of DCCI are expected at BCCK for the event.

Presidents and supreme council members of other chambers of commerce are also invited.

Those wanting to know more about the event can contact DCCI Secretariat at 082-425821 or fax the office at 082-422806, or email to [email protected].

The AGM proper will be held at Telang Usan Hotel on April 26.
