MIRI: Sarawak B believe they will eventually make their mark in the President Cup 2019 campaign, despite a slow start to the season.

They are currently ninth in Group B standings, collecting five points from a win, two draw and five defeats.

Team manager Nazri Datuk Ahmad Lai said the squad and players are in good shape but were unable to translate it into success in the league.

According to him, Sarawak B are a much improved side during the 3-2 defeat to Felda United on Thursday.

“I am satisfied with the game’s pattern and the consistency of the players who showed improvement,” he said.

Unfortunately, Lady Luck was again not on Sarawak side, he lamented.

“Our players were 2-0 behind, but they managed to level out in the second half and this is something that we should be proud of.

“Although the result is not in our favour, we need to focus on the next game against Negeri Sembilan this Monday,” he explained.

Nazri however admitted that he was disappointed with the result.

“I have to accept the defeat with an open heart despite the fact that there are various criticisms and negative comments from supporters,” he explained.

Nazri hoped that the players will recover and urged the fans to stand together and support the team.

Sarawak B need to put Felda United defeat behind them and focus on their next opponents.

“We still have a lot of games to play. We must look at the defeat (against Felda United) as a launch pad to comeback stronger in the league, and uplift our spirit to compete. We will never give up,” he added.
