Over 1,500 witness launch of Jelajah Belia Sarawak 2019

ASAJAYA: More than 1,500 youths witnessed the launch of Jelajah Belia Sarawak 2019 at Asajaya Sports Complex here yesterday.

Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who officiated at the ceremony, said this programme would also be held at 40 districts across Sarawak and continue to be run until end of next year.

“The programme is part of the ministry’s community engagement initiatives, especially for the benefit of the younger generation. It also aims to provide an avenue for local leaders to meet youths in their respective constituencies towards fostering better understanding and enhancing closer ties with one another.”

Among the activities featured during the event were townhall session, singing competition, cultural shows, sales of various products, exhibition booths and also demonstrations on extreme sports such as rock-climbing.

In addition, the participating youths were given ample opportunities to interact with their local leaders during the question-answer segment of the townhall session, which included discussions over matters of common interest.

Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang, Daro assemblyman Sapiee Ahmad, Sadong Jaya assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo and Samarahan Resident Ibrahim Lumpu were also present at the event.
