SIBU: Pupils of SK St Mary at Circular Road here can now study in a more comfortable environment, thanks to the donation of new desks and chairs from Assistant Minister of Education and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapaee.

The contribution of the 330 desk-chair sets from Nangka Constituency Service Centre was funded under Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant for the constituency, where Dr Annuar is the assemblyman.

SK St Mary parent-teacher association (PTA) chairman Sayed Azmee Wan Junaidi said the new desks and chairs would replace the old ones at the primary school.

“It is my hope that this contribution would motivate all pupils to study harder and make their school proud in both academic and co-curricular activities,” he told reporters after witnessing the symbolic handing-over ceremony at the school hall yesterday, where SK St Mary headmaster Morris Belayong was also present.

Adding on, Sayed Azmee also expressed his gratitude to all teachers and parents for their support not only in requesting for this assistance, but also in working together to carry the new desks and chairs to all the classrooms and laboratories.

“With the full support from everyone here, we’re able to finish the job within only one hour. This shows that all the parents are aware of the importance of teamwork across all levels,” he said.

Morris expressed his ‘big thank you and appreciation’ to Dr Annuar for making the school a better place through the donation of new desks and chairs for the pupils.
