KUCHING: A total of 30 Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) supporters including several top party leaders pooled their resources together to collect RM11,000 as donation to victims of a fire that gutted Rumah Clement Chandi, a 22-door longhouse at Sugai Tau in Selangau.

Each door received RM500 from the RM11,000 collected.

Among the top party leaders who contributed to the donation fund were Mambong assemblyman and party deputy president Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, former Selangau MP Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun and PSB secretary-general George Lo, a PSB press statement said.

“Edward Kurik (a former Parti Rakyat Sarawak leader) initiated the donation drive to collect RM11,000 from generous and kind hearted PSB members as of 11am today (yesterday).

“The donations were then handed over to Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun on behalf of the longhouse folks,” the statement said yesterday.

The Sunday night fire caused the death of a 43-year-old physically-challenged woman and badly injured her 80-year-old mother on her back and hand. They were said to be the only ones at home when the other folks were attending a funeral wake in a neighbouring house.
