MIRI: Confucius Teachings and Guidance Association will be holding a blood donation drive on the second floor of Emart Riam here tomorrow, running from 9.30am to 1pm.

According to the organiser, the activity is aimed at creating awareness of how blood donation can save lives, and that it is a charitable deed.

“There will be free refreshments for the blood donors. The blood collected will be handed over to the blood bank centre here,” said the organiser in a statement yesterday.

Those wishing to donate blood must be healthy individuals, aged between 18 and 60 years, with a minimum weight of 45kg.

They are reminded to get a minimum of five hours of sleep prior to the donation day.

“It is important for the prospective donors to not be on medication. Their haemoglobin level must be more than 12.5g per decilitre of blood. They should also take a light meal before donating.

“For regular donors, they should only return to donate at least three months after the last exercise,” said the organiser.
