Students take part in the contest at SMK Methodist.
SIBU: Some 200 secondary school students took part in a poster design contest yesterday in connection with ‘Love Earth Day’.
The contest was jointly organised by the Sibu Municipal Council, Education Department, and SMK Methodist.
Organising committee spokesman Chua Hock Siong said the contest aimed to create awareness of protecting the environment among the younger generation.
The contest was divided into lower secondary (Transition to Form 3) with the theme ‘Keep Sibu Clean and Beautiful’, and upper secondary (Form 4 to Upper 6) with the theme ‘Protect Our Species’.
Chua said there are attractive cash prizes with certificates for the top three winners, five consolation prizes, as well as 10 potential awards for each category.
The winners will receive their prizes during the closing ceremony of ‘Love Earth Day’ at the lobby of Wisma Sanyan at 2pm today (April 21).
