MIRI: Sarawak United Peoples Party (SUPP) Senadin and National Registration Department (NRD) Miri made a special visit to Kampung Lopeng Tengah and Kampung Senadin Jaya last Friday.

Senadin assemblyman and Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Lee Kim Shin said the visit was to distribute information and brief members of communities there on the importance of registering birth and getting MyKad.

During the visit, Affrizan Bujang of NRD Miri Mobile Unit explained how to register a birth and the implication of late or not registering a birth.

Local folks were also informed about Endowment Fund Sarawak which is given to every Sarawakian child born starting this year, including those born outside the state with at least one Sarawakian parent with ‘K’ status on MyKad.

Once their birth is registered, the children will receive a one-off payment of RM1,000 each once they reach the age of 18 years.

Registration for the endowment fund can be made at any NRD office. Sarawakian parents who have yet to register children born this year are advised to do so at any NRD offices or UTC.

During the visit, Lee presented allocation of RM5,000 each to Village Safety and Security Committees (JKKK) of Kampung Senadin Jaya, JKKK Kampung Lopeng Tengah and Surau Senadin Jaya for their annual programmes and activities.

Lee also launched the newly installed piped gas line for nine houses in Kampung Senadin Jaya.
