SMK Kidurong to represent Sarawak at national-level CIPKPS

SIBU: SMK Kidurong, Bintulu emerged champion in the state-level School Consumer Club Interactive Consumer Challenge (CIPKPS) 2019, and with it will represent Sarawak at the national-level challenge to be held in July.

SMK Chung Hua, Miri, came second while SMK Bintulu came in third.

The champion walked home with RM1,000 while the first runner-up took home RM700, and the second runner-up RM500. They also received trophies and certificates.

State director of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Stanley Tan, officiated at the prize-giving ceremony held at Kemuyang Youth Camp here yesterday.

The ministry’s Sibu branch chief Roslee Maslie and Sibu District Education Office head of school management unit John Francis Untam were also present.

A total of 148 students from 37 schools in Sarawak took part in the competition, which is into its ninth edition this year.

The challenge was conducted in three zones, namely northern, central and southern Sarawak.

The challenge for the northern zone was held in Miri
on March 13, central region in Sarikei on March 14, and the southern zone in Kuching on March 20.

Tan said the competition contained various interactive activities that tested the efficiency, knowledge and consumerism practices among the participants with focus on five aspects of consumerism, namely, smart consumers, prudent financial, healthy food in-take, environment and team building.
