KAPIT: The Native Customary Rights (NCR) New Initiative has in total surveyed 880,541 ha of land as of last month.

This includes 26,036 individual lots involving 32,376 ha of NCR land.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing said for this year, the focus is to survey 718,522 ha of NCR land for individual titles.

Masing advised NCR land owners to fully cooperate with Land and Survey Department staff to ensure the smooth implementation of surveys under Section 6 and Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code to secure ownership.

He said the Land and Survey Department in Kapit had surveyed 51,000 ha of NCR land under Section 6, and 11,000 ha would now be surveyed under Section 18.

“We have done this survey on perimeter survey and pemakai menoa under Section 6 two years ago. They, the Land and Survey Department, have done it and now they are going for individual land title survey in this area.

“So, 4,030 ha of land would be surveyed under Section 18 commencing after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration,” he explained when launching the NCR land survey under Section 18 for individual titles at Rumah Lugat Barin, Sungai Majau, Mujong, Baleh on Sunday.

The 21-door longhouse also held a pre-Gawai Dayak celebration in connection with the launching.
