KUCHING: President of State Reform Party Sarawak (STAR), Lina Soo believes that the wives and children of Member’s of Parliament (MP) must declare their assets too.
“We have MPs who are just rich, but their children are all mega rich beyond imagination,” Lina told The Borneo Post.
When asked about the children of the country’s top leadership who are excessively rich, Lina said their wealth “could not be accidental”.
“Is it a coincidence that the children of MPs are also fabulously good businessmen having interests in hundreds of companies?” she questioned.
Lina was commenting on the recent proposal by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government for all MPs, including from the opposition, to declare their assets to the Malaysia Anti Corruption Commission (MACC).
For Sarawak, Lina suggested that the Sarawak government must also ask all state assemblymen to declare theirs and their spouse and children’s’ assets.
“It should be public information. If they want to be public persons holding public office, they must be accountable,” she said.
