Fatimah hits a gong to declare open The Spring Bintulu’s Riangnya Gawai Raya programme.

BINTULU: The Spring Bintulu has attracted over 500,000 shoppers who spent more than RM30 million since it was opened five months ago.

“I am confident The Spring Bintulu can emulate the success of its counterpart in Kuching with more support from the many innovative local entrepreneurs,” said The Spring Management Services (Bintulu) chief operating officer Andy Song.

He said for this Gawai and Hari Raya celebrations, The Spring Bintulu has brought in a train from Molly Fantasy World that was previously stationed in Kuching to further enhance the entertainment offering here.

He also said there would be 12 new store openings this month and June to increase occupancy.

“Our goal in the next six months is to finish the renovation of the much-anticipated MBO Cinema to bring state-of-the-art box office movies to Bintulu, and also the opening of Uniqlo,” he said at the launch of The Spring Bintulu’s Riangnya Gawai Raya at the Centre Court on Wednesday, which was declared open by Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.

The Spring Bintulu also treated children from Peryatim Complex here for the breaking-of-fast with the minister at its food bazaar.

Song went on to say that in this digital era, online retail does provide an alternative to the traditional brick-and-mortar development.

However, he said online retail in its narrow sense only serves as a means to purchase and satisfy a material want.

“The Spring Bintulu is not only a place for the sale and purchase of goods and services, but also a place where our diverse community can come together, mingle and get to know each other better,” Song said.
