11 left homeless in predawn blaze

A fireman douses the flames that had destroyed the house, leaving 11 homeless.

MIRI: A family of 11 including two children escaped unharmed when their house was destroyed in a predawn blaze today.

Zone 6 Fire and Rescue station (Bomba) chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said Bomba Miri responded to the distress call received at 2.12am.

“When our team arrived at the scene, the house – a semi concrete building – was already 90 per cent destroyed,” he said.

Also destroyed in the fire was the family’s car.

The house was occupied by nine adults and two children aged between three and 62.

The cause and total damage caused by the fire has yet to be ascertained.
