KUCHING: CMS Tribal Run 5.0 this year will be expanded to cover two zones so more people can have fun while raising money.
The closing date for registration has also been extended to June 23 to encourage more people to participate.
The first flag-off from Marina Park, Miri on July 7 is a five-km fun run/walk offering attractive prizes to the top five men and women runners.
The second flag-off at Wisma Mahmud, Kuching on Aug 4 is divided into three categories – three-km and five-km fun run/walk and a 10-km competitive race. The top ten men and women finishers for the 10 km race in Kuching will each receive a prize.
CMS Group chief executive officer (Corporate) Dato Isaac Lugun said when the run was first launched, it was to raise money for charities and local communities in a fun and unique way.
“The run has seen thousands raising money in their traditional costumes, showing off Sarawak’s beauty and diversity.
“At CMS, we are very proud that CMS Tribal Run is among the very few in Sarawak where 100 per cent of the registration fees collected is given to charities and local communities” he said.
Isaac revealed that in 2018, a total of 3,288 people participated in CMS Tribal Run 4.0, collecting RM136,000 for 10 local charities.
“The encouraging response shows the community spirit and we hope to attract more runners this year,” he said.
Entry fees for the three-km, five-km fun run/walk are RM40 and RM45 respectively, while the 10km competitive race is RM50 inclusive of a specially-designed t-shirt and finisher’s medal.
Participants are also encouraged to dress“Tribal” with prizes for the top 10 most creatively-dressed men and women runners. There will also be many lucky draws on the days of the run. Register now at www.malaysiarunner.com.
