BINTULU: The government will continue to improve the telecommunication infrastructure in rural areas throughout the country, says Minister of Communications and Multimedia Gobind Sing Deo.

He said he would go to the ground from time-to-time, including the rural areas, to find ways and means to ensure the people would enjoy better telecommunication services.

“Fast communication is urgently needed in the rural areas especially during emergencies,” he said during his visit to Rumah Henry Nuni at Sungai Gelam, Sebauh last Friday evening.

The visit was part of his programmes in conjunction with the National-level Gawai Dayak celebration which is centred in Bintulu. He went on to say that he understood the difficulties faced by people in rural and remote areas in the country, who are still lacking in communication infrastructure.

Hence, he said the enhancement of communication networks in the rural areas was necessary to ensure the people get fast communication services. Gobind added that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government would ensure that changes from various aspects would be implemented in stages.

“This is to ensure continued growth and prosperity for all Malaysians,” he added.

At the longhouse earlier, he was given a warm welcome by the residents from 53 families on arrival.
