MIRI: The Miri Malay Association (PMM) calls upon all members of the public to continue supporting its charity programmes.

PMM president Radzali Alison believes that solid support is vital to ensure that the objectives behind each programme could be achieved accordingly.

Citing the distribution of Ramadan assistance as one of PMM’s signature charity programmes, he says it has been run every Ramadan over the past 20 years.

“The programme had a humble beginning, where we only managed to gather 10 needy individuals to benefit from this activity.

“Nevertheless with the support from many generous people, the programme has been growing steadily. Today, a total of 720 needy folk from 24 villages across Miri would be receiving Ramadan contributions, in the form of food items,” he said when met at the presentation of Ramadan assistance at PMM’s premises here yesterday.

The food items, added Radzali, would be presented to the respective village community leaders, such as the Ketua Kaum, and in this regard, he reminded these leaders to make sure that the aid would reach the needy villages.

Meanwhile, Radzali also mentioned about the charity corner at Masjid At-Taqwa here, which was established by the association early last year.

“This charity corner is where the well-to-do Muslims could donate food items meant for the underprivileged folk.”

The presentation yesterday was performed by Miri Malay chief community leader Temenggong Abdul Rahman Fadzail.
