MIRI: A police report was lodged at the Lawas police station yesterday against a teacher in Lawas who was alleged to have sodomised and molested at least seven boys.
According to a source, the 39-year-old teacher, who had been teaching at the school since 2012, had allegedly molested and sodomised at least five boys who are now in secondary school in Lawas.
A few of the victims, however, are still in the primary school where he is currently teaching.
It is learnt that the abuse had been going on from 2016 until last year but none of the victims had come forward or had the courage to tell their parents.
The matter only became known a few days ago when those victims who are now in secondary school started talking and sharing among themselves about the alleged act by the teacher when they were in the primary school.
“One of the students who overheard their conversation then told his mother who did not take the matter lightly. She informed the school about the alleged molest and sexual abuse and, from there, two other pupils came up and told their side of story,” the source added.
The source added that there could be more victims who were afraid to come forward.
Meanwhile, Lawas police chief DSP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, when contacted via WhatsApp yesterday, confirmed that police have received a report on the case.
“Yes, confirmed that a report was received at noon. Details not available as this case (is) very sensitive,” he said, adding that he would not divulge further information pending a thorough investigation.
