MIRI: Police are not discounting the possibility that more victims will come forward to lodge police reports at the Lawas police station this week against the primary school teacher who is currently under a three-day remand to facilitate investigation into alleged sodomy and molest case involving five teenage boys.

Lawas District police chief DSP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad when contacted today, said his team had gone to the school where the suspect was currently teaching to conduct further investigation on the matter.

“We are expecting more (victims) as other victims have not been willing to come forward,” he said when contacted via WhatsApp today.

Abang Zainal Abidin added that the police had opened four investigation papers to investigate the suspect for alleged molest and sex against the order of nature.

He disclosed that initial investigation also showed that the suspect was currently being investigated by police from the Kota Kinabalu police station for alleged sodomy and sex against the order of nature with one of the victims.

“Based on information received, the suspect had taken the victim with him and rented an apartment in Kota Kinabalu.

“After committing the heinous sexual crime against the victim, he then abandoned the victim in Kota Kinabalu before he was arrested by CID personnel from Lawas on May 18,” said Abang Zainal Abidin.

The victim had contacted his family and had lodged a police report against the suspect.

On the suspect’s remand which will expire tomorrow (May 21), Abang Zainal Abidin said police are expected to apply for a new remand tomorrow.

Meanwhile, he urged the public not to speculate the case.

Police are investigating the case under Section 377 of the Penal Code for sodomy.
