MIRI: A burst pipe, believed to be due to construction works on a section of the Pan Borneo Highway project in front of Lambir National Park, disrupted the water supply to and affected tens of thousands of consumers in Miri, Sibuti and Beluru districts yesterday.

The Department of Rural Water Supply (JBALB) said repair works on the burst 500mm ductile iron pipe required unscheduled water supply disruption to consumers across the whole of Bekenu, Bukit Peninjau, Beluru as well as those along the Miri-Bintulu Road.

The water supply was cut off between 8am and 8pm yesterday to facilitate repair works.

“(Affected) consumers are advised to stock up water for their daily use pending the completion of the repair works undertaken by JBALB through a contractor,” said the department.

Affected consumers can call Razri Amit via 085-424 551), Clinton Lian Usop or Shafiq via 019-774 5073 for enquiries.
