SARIKEI: The Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) here has received two water tankers to help distribute water to areas affected by drought.

JBALB Sarikei officer Chieng Ghin Wei said the water tankers would be stationed here to serve Sarikei, Meradong, Julau, and Pakan districts.

He said this when witnessing a bubur lambuk distribution programme organised by the department on Friday.

Residents of drought affected areas, particularly longhouses and villages in rural areas, are advised to contact the department’s offices in their respective districts should they require assistance with water supply.

It is learnt that a total of 24 water tankers, each with a
5,000-litre capacity, have been supplied to divisional Rural Water Supply Departments across Sarawak.

Meanwhile, the JBALB Sarikei Sports and Recreational Club prepared over 200 packets of bubur lambuk for distribution to members’ families and their neighbours.
