CM shocked by news claiming S’wak agreed to offer 600,000 ha of land to Putrajaya

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is shocked over a news report which claimed that Sarawak had agreed to offer 600,000 hectares (ha) of land to the federal government for oil palm plantation in the state.

When prompted for comments on this issue during a press conference here today, Abang Johari said he was clueless as to how the news portal got the news.

“I was shocked about that. I don’t know where they got the figure,” he said after attending a function at the Sarawak Energy Western Regional Office here.

Abang Johari was responding to the news report which quoted Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Datuk Salahuddin Ayub as saying that Sarawak had agreed to offer 600,000 hectares of land to the federal government for the plantation of the mentioned commodity.
