KUCHING: The eighth edition of Kuching Got Talent (KGT) returns as part of this year’s Kuching Festival organised by Kuching City South Council (MBKS).

In a press conference yesterday, MBKS mayor Datuk James Chan invited individuals and groups to participate in KGT and showcase their talents.

“As long as you have talent, you are welcomed to join the talent contest free-of-charge,” Chan said.

Since its inception in 2012, KGT has become a sought-after talent contest in the city.

In a press statement, MBKS stated the three main categories of the contest are singing, dancing and other talents.

The singing category is divided into 12 years old and below; 13 years old and above.

Each group has three minutes to perform with no limit on the number of members per group or the type of performance. However, participants must take the size and weight limit of the stage into consideration.

Each performance will be judged based on creativity and uniqueness (40 per cent), talent and technical skill (30 per cent), entertainment value (15 per cent) and overall stage presentation (15 per cent). The panel of judges will comprise a team of experienced and qualified professionals from dance, musical and entertainment industries in Malaysia.

The marks scored will remain confidential to the participants and comments given by the judges will be reasonable and unbiased.

Auditions will take place on July 20 and 21 at MBKS Auditorium. The first day will be for dancing and other talents and the second day for singing category.

The semi-finals will be held on Aug 10 at MBKS Theatre and the final will be held on Aug 12 at the same venue with attractive cash prizes and trophies up for grabs.

Registration forms are available at MBKS’ Security Counter (Ground Floor) or Public Relations Unit (Third Floor) or from Kuching’s Got Talent 2019 Facebook page.

The last day for submission is July 12 at 4.30 pm.
